  1. What is it?

    blogr is a web service that provides you space to store and share your photos, videos, audios and blog-entries in just a few clicks.

  2. Why is it so different?

    The way people blog has changed over the last years. There should be no difference whether you use text, photos, audios or videos to communicate. They should be all equally easy to publish and share in one single place. And blogr is the best place to do this.

  3. How much does it cost? How much can I upload?

    This service is targeting private users and it is currently offered for free. We don't have any limits during beta, but we do ask you to use this service with care and respect to the machines hosting it and to your fellow users.

  4. Are you in alpha?

    Yes. This means to us that we are evolving this service constantly to provide the best software possible. Things may change and will. Your feedback is very much welcomed in this process.

  5. Are you affiliated with flickr or blogger?

    No, with none of them, even we admire their services. Developing software is a constant process of putting things together and extending them with new ideas. The name blogr also reflects that.

  6. Do you plan to provide other languages in the future?

    Yes. Stay tuned. And if you can provide some help, get in contact with us.

  7. What is planned for the future?

    There are too many ideas to list them all. But our number one goal is to provide an open and easy to use service. So if you have any ideas or problems with existing functionality get involved by writing us your ideas.

  8. What technologies do you use?

    The software running this service is based on twoday (http://www.twoday.org) which itself is based on (http://www.antville.org). We use Helma (http://www.helma.org) an excellent, open source web application framework that provides easy scripting via server side JavaScript and extensibility via Java. It is fast and scaleable due to its very efficient caching.

  9. What else?

    MySQL, Apache, Debian Linux, mod_jk, ImageMagick, script.aculo.us to name just a few.

  10. Are there any API's I can use?

    There are no stable, public API's yet, even the software uses them internally. API's will appear soon, and we will also provide established widely used API's like Blogger, MetaWeblog, Atom, etc... In the meantime check out our RSS2.0 and ATOM feed support.

  11. Who developed this?

    blogr was developed by a bunch of fabulous developers and enthusiasts at Knallgrau in Vienna, Austria. Smeidu did a wonderful design, Guillaume provided the domain, Michi and Daniel pieced together the machines and Mat is very happy to work with all of them.
